About this tour

Embark on the 8-day Helambu Circuit Trek, a must-do adventure near Kathmandu, offering stunning Himalayan landscapes and rich cultural experiences. Just 18 kilometers from Kathmandu, this trek begins in the serene village of Sundarijal, making it one of the most accessible treks in Nepal. Ideal for beginners and those with limited time, the Helambu Circuit Trek delivers an unforgettable Himalayan journey in just over a week.

The Helambu Trek takes you through the pristine trails of Langtang National Park, where you’ll encounter diverse wildlife, including the rare Red Panda. Thadepati, a key point on the trek, is perfect for spotting this endangered species and offers panoramic views of Mt. Everest.

With an altitude of 3,690 meters at its highest point, the Helambu Circuit Trek is designed to be safe and enjoyable without the usual risks of altitude sickness. However, it’s important to be prepared for any unexpected challenges along the way.

In addition to its natural beauty, the Helambu Trek is a cultural journey. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with the Sherpa and Lama communities, learning about their ancient traditions, Buddhist practices, and the creation of Thangka paintings, a treasured art form in Nepal.

Whether you’re seeking adventure, cultural enrichment, or a blend of both, the Helambu Circuit Trek is a top choice for trekkers.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our airport representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel. At 6:00 pm, you'll meet your trekking leader and the rest of the group at our office to kick off your adventure.

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we'll drive to Sundarijal, where your guide will secure the necessary permits to enter Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. From Sundarijal, the trek begins, taking you through a lush forest teeming with diverse flora and fauna as we make our way to Chisapani.

Starting our day with breakfast in Chisapani, we’ll gear up for several days of trekking, with 6 to 7 hours of walking each day. Following the Helambu Trek trail, we’ll pass through Pati Bhanjyan, Thankune Bhanjyang, and Golphu Bhanjyang before arriving at Kutumsang.

In Kutumsang, we'll stop at the National Park office to have our Langtang National Park permit checked before starting our trek to Thadepati. Along the way, we’ll pass several mani stones and trek through Kyuola Bhanjyang, Mangengoth, and Dobate, eventually reaching Thadepati Bhanjyang. This section of the trek offers the best chance to spot the rare Red Panda and, with clear weather, provides breathtaking panoramic views of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan ranges.

Thadepati Bhanjyang is the highest point of the Helambu Circuit Trek, reaching an elevation of 3,690 meters. Today, we'll descend to Tarke Gyang. After breakfast, we’ll trek to Melamchigaon, a Sherpa village known for its largest monastery in the area, which you can explore. From Melamchigaon, we’ll continue our descent to Tarke Gyang for an overnight stay.

After visiting the monastery in Tarke Gyang, we’ll continue our trek. As we descend, we’ll encounter two roadways and follow the path toward Sermanthang, passing numerous mani walls and charming villages along the way. Sermanthang is renowned for its apple and apricot orchards, adding a unique flavor to this scenic part of the trek.

On this day we will be travelling to Melamchi Bazaar to catch a bus back to Kathmandu. As we leave Sermanthang, we'll pass through several villages and settlements, including Nigale Bhanjyang, Kakani Bhanjyang, Kakani, Pokhari Bhanjyang, and Tallathok. From Melamchi, we’ll board a local bus for the approximately 5-hour journey to Kathmandu.

During your stay in Nepal, you can explore additional activities or visit other destinations. We’ll ensure you're dropped off at the airport for your departure.
